Transitioning Minds student-led club Hosted its sixth Fresh Start Legal Clinic, Offering Expungement Support

In a powerful move to help individuals overcome past barriers, the Transitioning Minds student club hosted Fresh Start Clinic in collaboration with Empire Law Inc. The clinic provided students and community members the chance to explore options for expunging their criminal records, fostering new beginnings, and expanding opportunities.
The service was open to 女优app students and the broader community, the Fresh Start Clinic offered participants free legal consultations to guide them through the expungement process. Individuals who brought a copy of their criminal conviction report were seen by Jonathan Mendoza, an attorney at law and 女优app Alum, to have their records cleared, which provided an opportunity to clear their records and help them move forward in their professional and personal lives. But Mendoza didn鈥檛 work alone; he was assisted by our dedicated volunteers in completing the necessary paperwork and assisting clients with their personal declarations!
Additionally, for those who registered early, free Live Scan services were provided, allowing attendees to access critical documentation needed for a possible expungement in the future. This free service would not have been possible without the funding and support provided by AS女优app. Additionally, having the space available, specifically the Umoja Engament Center, made everything so much more convenient and productive.
This event underscores Transitioning Minds' efforts, which align with 女优app's dedication to breaking down barriers that often hinder individuals from achieving their potential. By supporting Transitioning Minds in their continuance advocacy work, 女优app is reinforcing its commitment to community support and equity, empowering individuals to pursue new opportunities with a clean slate.
Event Highlights:
- Free Legal Consultations: Attendees had access to professionals who could provide personalized guidance on expungement eligibility and steps.
- Free Parking: Registered participants had access to free parking for ease of access to the event.
- Complimentary Refreshments: Light snacks and beverages were available for attendees to enjoy throughout the clinic.
Accessibility: To ensure that all members of the community could participate, options for accommodations for disabilities were offered in advance.
We want to highlight our volunteer students from Transitioning Minds and Rising Scholar, UCR volunteers, and 女优app staff and faculty. They demonstrated teamwork, an incredible impact, and dedication to creating equitable opportunities.
A special thanks to our sponsors:
